CLASS INFORMATION
Our Classes
Okatie Youth Ballet offers a variety of pre-ballet to pre-professional dance training and technique classes for students of all skill levels. This allows all students the opportunity to enjoy a well-rounded performing arts education.
All OYB classes are developmentally-appropriate for ages 2 and up. Class descriptions and classes per age can be found below.

Pre Ballet
AGES 2-3
Introduces young dancers to ballet and dance technique using props, dress up, musical instruments, and creative movement games. Curriculum involves proper body alignment, foot articulation, flexibility, basic locomotor skills, music and pre primary ballet technique. Note: students must be potty trained.

Leap 'N Learn
AGES 3-7
A class for the young dancer that infuses ballet basics with a creative dance approach. Dancers are introduced to the barre and center work. Curriculum involves proper body alignment, foot articulation, flexibility, musicality, and primary ballet technique.

Ballet I • Ballet II
AGES 3-7
A class for the young dancer that infuses ballet basics with a creative dance approach. Dancers are introduced to the barre and center work. Curriculum involves proper body alignment, foot articulation, flexibility, musicality, and primary ballet technique.

Ballet III • Ballet IV
AGES 8-9
A ballet class for dancers that increases the focus of ballet with Vagonova technique at the barre and center emphasizing alignment, the elements of dance, muscle development, creative expression, teamwork, musicality, flexibility and technique.

Pre Pointe • Pointe
AGES 10 and Up
A class for the older dancer utilizing the Vagonova technique. Curriculum involves advanced barre, alignment, advanced ballet technique, flexibility, teamwork, musicality, and an introduction to dance composition. Dancers from this class will audition for trio, duet, and solo roles in our performances. Note: Pointe shoes must be approved by the instructor.
